Lockdown Challenges
The lockdown of 2020 was a very challenging time for our country. People were shut indoors, and with inaccessibility to everything due to immobility, there were a lot of instances when Abhikalp foundation was resolved to put humanity over everything else. When team Abhikalp helped Migrants
In May 2020, when we heard that a few migrant labourers were stuck in Kerala, it became a priority to first, provide them adequate groceries, and immediate medical attention to one of the labourers whose body had been scorched in an accident. After the government announced trains for the transport of labourers, Abhikalp paved way to help them return. Later, our team helped the injured man with further medical assistance, given the gravity of his injuries.
Collect funds for the groceries and necessities for a family
Meanwhile, a donation drive was set up to collect funds for the groceries and necessities for a family in Pune, who had lost their jobs to Covid-19. The fund was also used to provide medical assistance to a woman who broke her arm, from the same family.
Education to children in rural areas
We managed to provide education to children in rural areas through donation of second-hand laptops and mobile phones. Volunteers from across India signed up to teach their choice of subject. These volunteers were specifically trained to teach online classes.
Lockdown of 2020 was not easy on anyone
In the meantime, we had a team dedicated to collaborate with The Aarambh School to run a drive to provide basic day necessities to families dwelling in the slum areas.
The lockdown of 2020 was not easy on anyone, and it is a known fact that not one person has been spared from the indirect effects of Coronavirus. But our volunteers firmly believe that saving even one person, is akin to saving a world.
